Old Man Winter

I just bought tickets to Cabo, Mexico. When is the trip to Cabo, you ask? Late July. I think I am trying to stave off S.A.D. and trick myself into thinking summer is just around the corner. Clearly, I am delusional. But a girl can dream. Right now I am dreaming of sand and coconut-flavored adult beverages.

Reality: it is cold. And getting colder. And summer is a shimmer of light in a galaxy far away. Forecasted high on Sunday is 10. I've never before heard or seen the term "brutally cold" until the other day when Tom Skilling spewed forth the infernal phrase, referring to the effects of an approaching "Siberian air mass." Or was it Arctic? Are those two interchangeable? This morning, my car was making weird creaking noises I had never heard before, as if to say you godammed bitch why are you making me move in this unbearable foreign cold? (After all, my Jeep is a Louisiana native as well).

The good thing is, we are headed to Austin in February, for my birthday, to visit Sidetracked and Seize the Dave, and Scattershot, who will be migrating in from California. Good times will be had, but right now what's got me salivating are the 67-68 degree average highs in late February in Austin. Please let it be average!

In other news, I've been thinking about chocolate alot lately. Especially hot chocolate made with real chocolate pieces melted in milk that is all steamy and frothy at the top. Oh dear lord.

Complaint

Why can't they make Crystal Light "On the Go" in single serving packets? I mean, how the hell am I supposed to accurately determine how much is half a pack of powder. And really, who is wheeling around with a freaking 20 oz bottle/cup? More like 8-12 oz. I am annoyed. This could be because I had no sleep last night, it's Monday, and the waist of my jeans is digging into the healing incision where I had a mole cut out.

Coming Back

After a 10 day vacation, it has been a little hard readjusting to a work schedule. My body is telling me I should be taking a nap right about now, or sipping on some eggnog while inhaling green and red M&Ms. Christmas break was awesome. I got a bunch of great gifts, had a nice time in Louisiana, and drank my way through the turn of the new year.

I have some photos to upload, but of course I keep forgetting to bring my camera cord. You should be seeing those in about 6 months.

As for new year's resolutions, I really don't make them. I typically try to follow this simple motto: do better. There are plenty of recurring themes in my life that need attention - health, diet, exercise, being more financially conservative, being nice to my family, controlling alcohol consumption, not hating everybody, etc. My goal is to work on all things and do better. Oh and read Ulysses.

Speaking of books, I finished reading The Kite Runner while on break. As well as the Devil Wears Prada (movie and book). I thought The Kite Runner was outstanding, but I have to say, I found myself feeling horrified at the Devil Wears Prada. I did not think it to be quite as funny as everyone suggested I would. There are probably a few reasons for that I won't point out here.

On the schedule for tonight: Shape's Bikini Body Camp. Let me just tell you this series of workouts is KICKING MY ASS.

Thank you, that is all.
