Trying not to disturb the cat

I made pumpkin bread. I am drinking a beer. I have a twitchy white kitten holding me hostage to the computer chair as she has cemented herself upon my lap. Prior to, I was thinking about heading to the couch to read some more of Pnin, which despite my reluctance to dive into, I am actually starting to enjoy. But alas, I have decided to oblige the cat for a few more minutes — she is purring and she misses her "daddy."

Fall is my favorite time of year. It's my favorite change of seasons. I love the crunch of the leaves under my feet. And the crisp air and blue skies. Before I lived in Chicago, where there actually is a proper Fall, I think I liked the idea of the season. You know, in the South it goes from hot to hot to warmish hot. But godammit I was going to try to wear an argyle sweater, and inevitably by the end of the day would be sweating buckets and have to ditch the sweater for the soggy tee underneath. We're not quite in sweater here weather yet. But the hoodies and cords are out. (note to self: I should figure out what I did with my winter clothes.)

Some boring facts of my life:

Last night I made ratatouille with my bounty from the farmers market. There's something to say, certainly, for fresh produce, it makes any recipe better. But nothing beats a fresh tomato, sliced, with a little sprinkle of salt and pepper.

Next weekend we will attempt to go apple picking. And stop at the Cheese Castle.

The beer I am currently drinking is a Wisconsin Amber from Capital Brewery. I got it at Trader Joe's. Along with a $3 bottle of wine.

OK, time is up for the kitty. I have to go find my phone since I'm betting that the kitten's father will be wanting a ride home soon.
